Castle of the Teutonic Order in Malbork

In the years 1309-1457, the castle in Malbork was the seat for the authorities of the Order of Brothers of the German House of Saint Mary in Jerusalem (the Teutonic Order) and at the same time, also the capital of the Teutonic State.

Since half of the castle was destroyed during World War II, it was planned to be demolished entirely. Finally, the Social Committee for the Reconstruction of the Castle was established and its shape from the Middle Ages was restored. Do pay a visit to the castle in the period from May to September. Then, a fabulous spectacle of light and sound takes place on the caslte premses. In 1997, this beautiful monument of history has been entered into UNESCO World Heritage List.
